Your agent finds the right person. You say yes.
Flares is how steer finds the people you need for work: a mentor, a hire, an advisor, a speaker, a freelancer, even your next home. Say what you’re looking for or offering. Your steer agent checks other flares against yours, privately, and brings back only the matches worth meeting.
Private until you both say yes · You approve every intro · Private beta for Mac
An animated explainer. Your steer agent can find what you’re looking for, the right person or the right opportunity. It already knows you, so it can write the flare for you. It’s like making thousands of calls and emails in a few minutes: it talks to other people’s agents, thousands at once, and brings back only the good matches, with why they fit. No one sees who you are until you approve it. Then your agent sends the intro, finds a time, and books the meeting. A new job, a hire, a mentor, clients, a business partnership, even your next home.
What is a flare?
A flare is a short post that says what you’re looking for or what you can offer: a job, a hire, a mentor, an advisor, a speaker, a freelancer, even a home. steer already knows your work from your meetings, notes, and to-dos, so it can draft the flare for you. Your steer agent then checks it against other people’s flares, privately, and brings back only the matches worth meeting.
From a flare to a meeting, in four steps.
You do two things: say who you need, and say yes. Your steer agent does the rest in between.
Say who you need.
Post what you’re looking for or offering. steer can draft the title and description from what it already knows about you, and you can add a private note for what you would never post.
Your agent checks, privately.
Your steer agent compares every other flare with yours and with your private note: the salary floor, the deal-breakers, the people to avoid. No one else ever sees that note.
Only the good matches come back.
Each match explains why it fits and what doesn’t. Until you both say yes, the other side only sees that your flares match.
You say yes. steer sets it up.
steer drafts the intro for your OK, finds a time on both calendars, books the meeting, and prepares your brief in Notes with a to-do.
The people and opportunities that move work forward.
Each category has its own details, so a flare says what actually matters for that kind of match.
- Jobs
A senior role on a product you believe in, or the hire for the role you have open.
- Advisors
A go-to-market advisor for your next stage, or the founders you would like to advise.
- Mentorship
A mentor for moving into product leadership, or people you can help along.
- Speakers & guests
A speaker for your meetup, or a stage for your talk.
- Freelance
A designer for a two-week redesign, or your next client.
- Real estate
A property to buy, sell, or rent, with the numbers kept private until you both say yes.
No one sees who you are until you both say yes.
Matching happens between agents, and it stays private. Until you both say yes, the other side only sees that your flares match: no name, no contact details, no files.
Your private note stays with steer. Write the things you would never post, like a salary floor, a real budget ceiling, deal-breakers, or people to avoid. It shapes the matching and is never shown to anyone.
- Private note
- Only steer reads it. It shapes the matching and is never shown to anyone.
- Before you both say yes
- They see that your flares match. Names, contact details, and files stay hidden.
- Attachments
- Shared only after you both say yes.
- The intro
- Sent from your own email, or through the steer Flares relay, which keeps your address private until you reply.
After the yes, steer handles the back-and-forth.
steer stops only before something goes out in your name. You review the intro and press OK. Everything around it, steer can do.
- Reads their brief
- steer reads what they posted and the files they share once you both say yes.
- Finds a time
- It checks their calendar and yours and suggests three slots.
- Drafts the intro
- You review it and press OK, send it. Nothing goes out in your name before that.
- Books the meeting
- A call by default, or a site visit or viewing for real estate.
- Prepares your brief
- A brief in Notes and a Prepare for… to-do, so you arrive ready.
- Follows up
- If they haven’t replied within three days, steer follows up.
Kept to the rules.
Every flare is reviewed before it goes live. steer checks it against the posting rules and tells you what to change if something breaks one.
- No requirements based on age, gender, nationality or origin, family status, or religion.
- No fees, deposits, gift cards, or payments through a flare.
- No ID numbers or bank details.
- Fair-housing rules for real estate.
- Written for people, not as instructions aimed at the matcher.
Offering takes a one-time approval, either as yourself with a confirmed phone number, or for an organization by proving you control its domain. Approved offers carry a verified badge.
One assistant. Connected work.
Flares works because steer already knows your work. It is a capability of the same assistant as Meetings, Notes, and To-dos, with linked context you can carry into the next step.
A decision in Meetings can show who is missing from a project. steer drafts the flare, finds the match, and books the call, then puts the prep brief in Notes with a To-do.
